I woke this morning to a quote from A.A. Milne's book, "The House at Pooh Corner":
Now it happened that Kanga had felt rather motherly that morning, and Wanting to Count Things--like Roo's vests, and how many pieces of soap there were left, and the two clean spots in Tigger's feeder; so she had sent them out with a packet of watercress sandwiches for Roo and a packet of extract-of-malt sandwiches for Tigger, to have a nice long morning in the Forest not getting into mischief.
Which is precisely how I often feel at this hour on a Tuesday, which is the day I send Martini Boy out into the forest for the day, with the modern equivalent of a packet of extract-of-malt sandwiches.
So to speak. It's Poker Night for him--which means Quiet Day and Foreign Movie Night for me.
Whee! I know just how Kanga felt--that whole Wanting to Count Things idea. After several hard days spent head-down in the Web development traces, it's a day for no phones, no work, and no interruptions.
To honor the mood, I think I'll turn out the closets for the coming season. Perhaps looking at lighter, more colorful clothing will reassure me that Spring really, really IS going to come.
Eventually.
