ming's back

I came so, so close to ditching this blog. Just opening the database and letting the bytes blow off into the wind.

It wasn't so much a reasoned decision, as simple inertia. Having blog entries become the center of a distressing conflict with a friend took the heart right out of me; Q4 madness multiplied by a holiday-season vacation blew poor Ming's Blog off the front burner.

So this month, when I consolidated all sites onto a single server (the economy, sigh), Ming's Blog almost didn't make the cut. For two weeks, it was broken, and I just couldn't find the time to administer cyber-CPR.

What saved it? The blog itself.

This morning, I'd almost decided to cut it free. Instead of hitting the ground running in the new year, I have a sick dog that takes much care, a constant diet of distraction--and the old blog just felt too much work, at a time when I have difficulty getting the day's work done.

But I stopped to read a bit before I pulled the plug, and I'm glad I did.

It's an extension of an experience I had last night. Cleaning out boxes of office supplies, I found my old SHE cards, including journal cards from the 1980's.

So much had changed. So much had stayed the same in my life over the past 20 years.

Here, too. I need to be reminded.

It's decided. Ming stays.

Get over it.
